🔗 Share this article The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration Over Size Modifications Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size. The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification. Online Platforms Reaction Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services. They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Changes Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Stories Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said. Required Changes A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said. Marketplace Information The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
